We take your safety very seriously and at our office sterilization is of highest priority. We practice universal precautions as outlined by the Canadian Dental Association. All instruments and handpieces (drills) are autoclaved under the strictest controls. Any items that cannot be autoclaved are disposable and single use only. Operatory surfaces are covered with disposable barriers and non covered areas are cleaned with certified disinfectants between each patient.

We wear gloves, masks and protective eyewear for our protection as well as yours. We also provide patients with protective eyewear.

Our autoclaves are checked monthly by UBC’s sterilization monitoring service to ensure proper sterilization is always achieved.

Digital X-rays:

Our x-ray systems are fully digital and provide us with remarkable images of your teeth. With digital radiography we are able to view images immediately on our computer monitors in all operatories. With a 17 inch monitor we can show you what we see much easier than with conventional films(1 x 1 ? inches). We can magnify and manipulate the image and thereby significantly help us with diagnosis.

Furthermore, digital x-rays significantly reduce your radiation dose. They also eliminate the difficult environmental burden of dealing with the disposal of chemicals necessary for developing conventional x-ray film.

We have intra-oral digital sensors as well as a digital panoramic x-ray .

DVD's:

During longer appointments some patients enjoy watching movies or a sitcom to distract them.

Mercury recovery system:

Our amalgam separator is used to recover greater than 99% of the mercury waste from the removal of old silver amalgam fillings. This system prevents the contamination of our environment through the municipal water sewer system.
